We, veterans of the Gulf War, seek to inject common sense into the debate over a possible U.S. war against Iraq by placing the debate in the context of protecting our liberty, constitutional values and our freedom.

Dear friends:

Whether or not you believe the United States should invade Iraq now or in the future, you would probably agree that before committing our forces to war, we must soberly and thoroughly examine all the implications of that move. War is a serious business -- men and women will die. It is our moral obligation to make sure we are taking theright step.

We have formed a group of Gulf War veterans to call for thatexamination. Our goal is to ensure that before committing our forces to war, we consider all the key issues: whether or not the invasion will destabilize the region; full medical care for returning soldiers (which
never happened in 1991); the Administration should publicly release the information that justifies an attack; Congress is the body which should approve any war and should ensure adequate oversight; we should meet our
international obligations, including working through the UN Security Council, and finally, a full accounting must be made for those who are missing-in-action.

As combat veterans who know the costs of war, our voices must be heard.

If you agree with our principles, we would like to invite you to sign our letter, which will be delivered to the President and the leadership of both houses of Congress. If you don't agree, I would still invite you to read the material on our site, and thank you for your time.

I would also like to invite you to return to our site, where we will be collecting the latest news about the war on a daily basis.
